World Cup joy for Shiffrin

Mikaela Shiffrin, 24, secured her 66th World Cup win with victory at the Super-G in Bansko, Bulgaria. The American, who is a double Olympic champion, took her second speed race in three days to extend lead in overall World Cup standings.

“I took a little bit of a risk,” said Shiffrin. “I had a really crazy run. I was going really aggressive. It’s the perfect surface, it’s perfect conditions, and I really like the course, obviously.”

Shiffrin is expected to take a short break from competition following the death of her father, Jeff, this week.
