Stuart Delmonte predicts the Accountants League title race will go down to the wire after AFC Flixton served fresh notice of their championship credentials.

A late strike from Rafi Leeker condemned leaders West Manchester to their first home loss of the season as AFC Flixton started 2014 in style.

Leeker’s strike means Flixton, who are co-managed by Tony Rosenberg and Delmonte, are now level on points with West Manchester and Manchester Villa at the top of the Division One table.

"There will be plenty of twists and turns left and it could go down to the final game," Delmonte told JC Sport. "But we feel we are right in the mix. We have played most of the top sides home and away.

"I know the other leading teams need to play each other still so the points could well be spread out. Hopefully we can make the most of any chance."

AFC Flixton’s push has largely been down to their miserly defence who have conceded just nine goals all season.

And another rock-solid defensive show paved the way for this win thanks to goals from Michael Warwick and another from Leeker.

Delmonte said: "This was a big win and we achieved it without our captain Adam Tauber.

"The boys really stepped up, with Mark Bell and Michael Sacks outstanding at the back.

"Michael Warwick and Rob Jacobs were the other stand-out performers."
