Thanks for memories, says Shechter

Itay Shechter became the first-ever Israeli to win a Wembley cup winners medal despite sitting on the bench throughout Swansea’s 5-0 Capital One Cup final victory over Bradford City.

He said: “To win a cup in front of over 80,000 fans at Wembley is something I’ll remember my whole life.

“Although I didn’t play in the final, I’m part of this amazing team. I can’t describe it. We came here with 40,000 fans and the team is like a family. Everyone made me feel like I played the full 90 minutes.”

The 25-year-old striker joined Swansea on a one-year loan from Kaiserslautern and has made 13 appearances.

He said: “Now that our place in Europe is assured, I hope to get more minutes on the pitch.”
