SOUTH MANCHESTER SPORTS CLUB 1 WYTHENSHAWE WANDERERS 0

In a game moved to Wythenshawe due to Storm Dennis, South captain Michael Stratton was the star performer in a game where they excelled in defence, with goalkeeper Jake Romer also in sparkling form.

Having kept the leaders at bay, Brown settled the contest with a curling free-kick 12 minutes from time.

South’s Jack Rowe said: “Wythenshawe can be an intimidating side but the boys stood firm and although we had a few drop-outs on the day of the game, we dug deep to claim the points.

“We’ve now beaten the top two in our last two matches and are playing with no fear.”
