Stadium is set to be rebuilt

articlemain

With Maccabi Tel Aviv set to clinch back-to-back Ligat Ha’al titles, the club’s billionaire Canadian owner Mitch Goldhar is considering rebuilding Ramat Gan stadium as the club’s new home.

Goldhar’s representatives met Ramat Gan mayor Yisrael Zinger last week. Zinger’s spokesman’s office said: "The meeting was an exchange of ideas about Maccabi playing in Ramat Gan, but nothing concrete was agreed.

With Haifa and Jerusalem now boasting 30,000-seat stadiums and the Ramat Gan national stadium no longer used, the Tel Aviv area has fallen behind.

Maccabi currently shares 14,000 seat Bloomfield Stadium with Hapoel Tel Aviv, but market research has shown that the Israeli champions could easily fill a 30,000 stadium.
