Six of the best for GB

articlemain

Maccabi GB has selected a six-man Junior Golf squad for July's European Maccabi Games.

The squad features four players - Ben Brownson, Zak Talbot, James Becker and Ben Mesrie - from Dunham Forest Golf Club.

All eyes will be on Marc Brenner. The junior captain of Abridge, Brenner, 15, will be looking to build on golds won at the JCC Maccabi Games in San Francisco and Denver. He holds the lowest handicap (5) among the delegation.

A former junior captain of Dunham Forest, Brownson, 16, represented GB at the 2009 Maccabiah Games.

At 14, Ben Mesrie is the youngest member. Toby Ziff of Moor Allerton completes the group.

Team manager Ben Green said: "The squad is not only refreshing, vibrant and talented, but offers a great team spirit; all with a great sporting and social attitude and, moreover, they are excited to bring home gold medals.

"Four out of the six players belong to the same club and with only one team member from London, this year's team offers diversity and has opened up the talent pool emanating from the north of the country."

Squad: Marc Brenner, Ben Brownson, Zak Talbot, Toby Ziff, James Becker, Ben Mesrie. Team manager: Ben Green
