Dudi Sela will meet Wilfred Tsonga in the second round of the French Open following an impressive victory over Mikhail Kukushkin.
The Israeli (89) reached the second time at Roland Garros for only the second time following his 7-6 (5), 6-3, 7-6 (4) victory over Kukushkin, who is ranked 32 places above him in the rankings.
Sela's reward is a contest against no. 14 seed Tsonga - a player he has only beaten once before, in 2009.
Sela is Israel's only entrant in the Singles competition after Amir Weintraub and Shahar Peer bowed out during the qualifying stages.
Weintraub was beaten in straight sets by Illya Marchenko, while Peer succumbed in the last qualifying round Anastasia Rodionova. Peer won the first set to love before Rodionova recovered to win 6-4, 7-5.
Italy's Camila Giorgi progressed safely into the second round of the Ladies Singles following a 7-5, 6-3 success over Tatjana Maria. Her reward is a meeting against 21st seed Garbine Muguruza.
