Salford no match for Maccabi

articlemain

Manchester Maccabi cruised to a seven-wicket victory over struggling Salford.

Maccabi won the toss and put Salford in to bat, taking advantage of their strong bowling attack which has perfomed so well all season.

The home side were never allowed to get going with Adam Schogger returning three wickets for only 18 runs, supported by Ashley Landes (2- 24) and Daniel Franks who grabbed 3-13.

Stuart Simpson completed the innings (1 for 1) and only Elliot Koffman provided any real resistance for Salford aided by Josh Henry as they succumbed to an all out total of 79.

Manchester Maccabi lost an early wicket to Jonny Wineberg who ended up grabbing 3 wickets on the damp pitch but Maccabi skipper, Ray Tammam (10), who got off his sick bed to play, steadied the ship with good support from Stuart Simpson to the ten over mark in the 20 over match.

Salford bowled pretty tightly thanks to Mo Watson and Koffman in particular as the visitors lost Pearlman and Tammam in quick succession to leave the contest tantalisingly poised.

However, the second half of the innings was all Maccabi as Simpson (34 not out) and Natan Fagleman (13 not out) steadily and comfortably eased Maccabi towards their victory target.

They completed an impressive victory and an unbroken stand of 39 to confirm a win by 7 wickets after 18.2 overs.
