David Peters outclassed all other M40 athletes in the Fifth Avenue Mile road race in New York.
Having achieved the distinction of being the only M40 entrant in the elite race, his time of 4:17 was 10 seconds faster than any runner in the official M40 race. It also places him second in the UK M40 rankings for the distance.
Peters said: "I was suffering jet-lag and feeling a bit below par at the start, and took the first half cautiously. I then realised I was running well and managed a strong finish.
"It was amazing to warm up and later dine with some of the best male and female milers in the world."
