JC GOAL OF THE WEEK: CONTENDERS

- BEN MANDEL (Hertswood Vale) - GOAL 2 - a quality ball over the top from Zach Mandel found Mandel who audaciously lobbed the Brady keeper from 35 yards from the most brilliant of angles – his fifth goal of the season and fourth in his last two games

- CHARLIE KASLER (NL Raiders) - "scored the best goal the MGBSFL has ever seen". Picture Wilshere vs Norwich. Quick one-touch interchange on the edge of the box between Yarden, Matt, Doffman and Charlie with the former slotting in the bottom corner

- ROCKY SPITZER (Hendon Utd) - free-kick from 25 yards, with Xhaka-esque swerve

- ZAC LEWIS (Hendon Utd) - a trademark weaving run, avoiding some hefty challenges, leaving four players on the floor and slotting home

- LOUIS COUQUE (Los Camden B) - an absolute banger from a 25-yard free-kick by the striker, right in the top right corner. The scenes were incredible

------------------------

JC SAVE OF THE WEEK: CONTENDERS

- SAM SINGER (Mill Hill Dons) - "filthy" one-handed save low down to his left

- JACK SHULMAN (Hertswood Vale) - a stunning point-blank save from stand-in keeper Shulman from a header from a Brady corner – a solid header was heading towards the top corner before Jack pulled off what can only be described as a worldclass reflex save

------------------------

JC QUOTE OF THE WEEK: CONTENDERS

- DORON SHOOTER (Faithfold B) - "I’m very proud of my team today; we played against a Redbridge side who are having a wonderful season and are sitting at the top of Division One, and in my opinion we matched them for most of the game, despite having many first-team regulars missing. Had it not been for a few individual errors, I don’t believe they would have scored today so we can be proud of the work that we put in"

- SAM RANK (Redbridge JC A) - "It's been confirmed today Nate Kashket's goal-scoring bonus has been stopped by his father, due to him costing his dad fortune. However, RJC A have given Kashket the bonus of being the star of the Instagram account, with a video each week when the talented scores. Nate response was 'very excited and will have to shave for the occasion'"

YOUR WEEKEND REVIEW STARTS HERE:

CYRIL ANEKSTEIN CUP ROUND ONE

FAIRLOP FC 1 LOS CAMDEN B 1 (AET - Fairlop won 4-3 on penalties)

In-form Fairlop FC needed penalties to see off the challenge of Division One rivals after the tie finished 1-1 after 90 minutes. Aaron Dias's men held their nerve in the shoot-out to progress 4-3.

Ryan Cole was the unlikely hero for Fairlop, playing emergency goalkeeper and saving two in the shoot-out, while James Jaconelli registered in normal time, with Louis Couque replying for Los Camden with a stunning 25-yard free-kick.

Fairlop's Jake Sanders told JC Sport: "We were far from our best today. In truth, we haven’t been good for a while, but that’s six consecutive victories, which is a good sign. We plugged away today and finally got our reward in stoppage-time and our golden boy James Jaconelli stuck away the resulting penalty after Adam Goldman was fouled. The boys never stopped trying, despite the majority being hungover. Massive credit to Ryan Cole who played in goal today as our first three goalkeepers were all injured and unavailable."

Los Camden's Richard Hayim told JC Sport: "Today was a hard-fought battle from the boys in blue. Our back four were superb throughout the whole 120 minutes, and our midfield and strikers worked tirelessly until the very end. Our goalkeeper Gideon Rabstein was terrific today in his final game for us, commanding, confident and had a string of great saves to keep us in it, including a penalty save in the shoot-out. We gave Fairlop a good game today with both teams creating great opportunities and playing fantastic football."

DC Prediction: Fairlop 4 Los Camden 0

FAITHFOLD DOC MM B 0 REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE A 3

NATE KASHKET continued his excellent start to the season, scoring all three goals in the victory over Division Two table-toppers Faithfold B.

RJC player-manager Sam Rank told JC Sport: "We were not at the races in the first half today, but once the boys upped the game it was very easy and pleasing for all too see."

Faithfold's Doron Shooter told JC Sport; “I’m very proud of my team today; we played against a Redbridge side who are having a wonderful season and are sitting at the top of Division One, and in my opinion we matched them for most of the game, despite having many first-team regulars missing. Had it not been for a few individual errors, I don’t believe they would have scored today so we can be proud of the work that we put in. Having said all of that we wish Redbridge the best of luck in the next round of the cup, as we look to prepare for a big game against their B’s next week.”

FC TEAM A 2 FAITHFOLD DOC MM A 5

Another DAVID LEIWY master-class ensured Premier Division class told in the end as Faithfold Doc MM A enjoyed a five-star win over second division FC Team, in front of the JC cameras. Jordan Sharifian scored his first competitive goal for the Superhoops, along with recent signing Lorian Madanes, who netted against his former club.

Connor Perl and David Cohen struck for FC Team.

Faithfold player-manager Avi Markiewicz told JC Sport: "We were very good in the first half. We pressed them well and got our wingers into the game. The second half was a lot tighter. We were a lot more on edge for some reason and let them back into the game. They did well. We were lucky that we had enough to put the game away."

FC Team player-manager Mitch Young told JC Sport: "For me, the turning point was definitely the cross that went over the line. Their assistant-referee gave it and everyone said it was over the line. At 4-3 it could have been a very different game.”

HENDON UNITED SPORTS 16 TEMPLE FORTUNE 0

A five-goal blitz from ROCKY SPITZER saw MGBSFL leaders Hendon United turned on the style as they beat second division Temple Fortune 16-0. CHAIM KORMAN and DOVI FEHLER were also hat-trick heroes, with Zac Lewis (2), Yehuda Korman, Avi Korman and Mordi Weiler adding the gloss at Hadley FC.

United boss Jordan Sapler told JC Sport: "It’s not always easy going into a game as heavy favourites, but we started with exactly the right attitude and carried that on until the final whistle. We played some excellent football, with the kind of style we have been working on, centred around quick passing and sharp movement and the large scoreline was well deserved. It was a good run-out for some of our boys coming back from injury and those who haven’t had a full 90 minutes, and it should put us in stronger shape as a squad in the weeks to come."

DC Prediction: Hendon 5 Fortune 0

HERTSWOOD VALE 2 BRADY MACCABI 3

Brady Maccabi were given a scare by Division Two high-flyers Hertswood Vale, but in the end goals from Josh Curtis, Graeme Grossman and Marc Rister send Joel Nathan's boys through.

Relieved Brady boss Joel Nathan told JC Sport: "At last we get a win, but it wasn’t pretty. Hertswood are a good young team and we wish them well in the league this season."

Vale joint-manager Jacob Emanuel told JC Sport: "To come away from the match against top-flight opposition and put in such a solid performance, Danny and I are very proud."

HMH 4 MILL HILL DONS 3

HMH stormed into an early 2-0 lead, but they were somewhat relieved to hear the final whistle after a thriller against second division Mill Hill Dons.

George Goldberg, Oscar Wagner, Adam Abadi and Ariel Rahamim registered for HMH.

HMH boss Avi Goldberg told JC Sport: "It was a rather strange affair at the Hive as we cruised to a 2 -0 lead in the first half, which in truth should have been much more as we wasted chance after chance as the Dons struggled to make an impact on the game and get out of their own half. In the second half we went further ahead and chances continued to go begging. However, all credit to MHD who fought back to 3-2 before Ariel Rahamim made it 4-2. MHD would not give up and clawed another one back as we wasted more chances. We turned up turned on but forgot how to put the ball in the back of the net. All credit to MHD for not giving up and giving us a real scare."

Adam Lisberg, Zach Cohen and Sam Stern were the marksmen for the Dons. Boss Brandon Hamme told JC Sport: "I'm really proud of the boys today, they put in a really impressive performance and just came up short. With 18 places separating us, a lot of people were expecting HMH to have no difficulties but we went toe to toe with them. It was a big plus having both Sam Stead and Zach Cohen back from injury, they both had superb games today and we will be hoping to keep them fit for the weeks ahead. There were great performances throughout the team and we were unlucky to not get a fourth goal. Full credit to Avi Goldberg and HMH though, it was clear to see they are a top quality team they played some great stuff throughout."

DC Prediction: HMH 3 Dons 1

NORTH LONDON GALAXY 0 NORTH LONDON RAIDERS 7

CHARLIE KASLER's treble helped Raiders romp to victory in the North London derby, putting Division One rivals Galaxy to the sword in a one-sided contest. Aron Gale (2), Scott Waisel and Liron Mannie joined the party on a memorable day for L'Orange.

NLR's Gideon Gale told JC Sport: "In the words of Luke Lewis, come prepared... think it’s safe to say we did just that. Sensational performance from 1 through to 11. Galaxy should be content with seven when on another day could easily have been 12/13. Galaxy seem to rely too heavily on their ‘Saturday boys’. Even with them, still would have been a rugby score! With this squad, we don’t fear anyone and really should be on more points than we already are! Having the class of Kasler and Liron on show more often, teams won’t get near us!"

DC Prediction: Galaxy 3 Raiders 2

OAKWOOD B 8 FAITHFOLD DOC MM C 0

SAM MODLIN's four-goal blast ensured a comprehensive win for Oakwood B, who fell just one goal short of my prediction, as they overpowered Faithfold C of Division Two 8-0.

Max Clynes, Dan Selwyn, Josh Bharier and Rafi Bloom completed the rout. Joint-manager Simon Field told JC Sport: "It was a great reaction from the boys after last week's disappointing defeat. We played some brilliant football throughout and taught Faithfold a footballing lesson. Onwards to the next round."

DC Prediction: Oakwood 9 Faithfold 0

Jewdinese marched into third place after making it six games without defeat with an impressive 3-1 win over Bayern Mincha, via a double from Arron Goldberg plus an own goal.

Zebras chief Darren Lawrence told JC Sport: "It was a below-par performance, however in order to win the league you have to win when you don’t play well and that’s what we did. The introduction of James Ross changed the game."

REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE B 4 SPEC FC 3

A deadly double from Craig Sandford inspired Redbridge B to a thrilling 4-3 win over promotion rivals SPEC FC at Fairlop. Further strikes from Max Ashton and Seth Walmer secured the points for Richard Bronzite's men.

RJC boss Richard Bronzite told JC Sport: "I'm delighted with the win, which we deserved. As per most of games this season, we didn’t start well but once we going going we were always in control."

SPEC FC's goals came via Josh Green, Sam Shackleton and an own goal. Player-manager Ricky Lawrence told JC Sport: "The better team won on the day. We can have no complaints about the result in what was a decent game."
