Maccabi Masters review: October 30

articlemain

A strike from Daryl Phillips earned Faithfold a 1-1 draw against league new boys Scrabble in Division One. Charlie Bernstein netted with virtually the last kick of the game to ensure a point for Jon Yantin's men.

Glenthorne United B regained top spot in Division Two with a thrilling 4-3 win in the big game of the day against the former table-toppers, London Maccabi Lions.

Lions' goals came from Marc Morris, Lee Cohen and Danny Schindler, but strikes from Adam Lennard, a Jon Bolle double and a superb goal from Paul van Gelder on his 55th birthday made it a very happy one for him and for Glenthorne.

And there were further celebrations for Glenthorne at the foot of the table as their C team notched up their first point of the season from a 1-1 draw with Ashlodge. Nick Pitch registered for Glenthorne with Phil Silver replying for Ashlodge.

Brady B returned to winning ways with a closely-fought 4-2 victory over Marshside. Roger Kay, Malcolm Hershman's penalty and Jonny Cohen gave Brady a commanding early lead, but Marshside pulled one back just before the break through Stuart Brooks.

With just eight minutes left, Danny Sofizade halved the deficit for Marshside, but Roger Kay settled it in Brady's favour with his second goal two minutes later.

Biggest scorers of the day were Hendon Harriers who put nine past Temple Fortune, including hat-tricks for Paul Herszaft and Andrew Cohen. Ilan Cohen scored twice, while David Jacobs was also on target in a 9-3 win.

Allon Schick-Maier's penalty, Alan Harounoff and James Ryan scored Fortune's consolations.
