Glenthorne United A climbed into second spot in Division One of the Maccabi Masters League with a 2-1 victory over Scrabble.
All the goals came late in the match with Jason Levy and Hadley Vernon scoring for Glenthorne. Scrabble's goal came through Charlie Bernstein right at the death.
In Division 2, the encounter between Hendon and Marshside had an added edge with no fewer than six former Hendon players in the Marshside line-up.
Hendon were the quicker out of the blocks, and took a 2‐0 lead courtesy of a brace from Ashley Marks, the second coming from an audacious backheel, before Eric Elbaz halved the deficit from the penalty spot.
After the interval Andrew Cohen restored the two-goal cushion for Hendon but Marshside continued to press, and were rewarded when Grant Morgan scored on his full debut.
However, despite Marshside’s efforts to force an equaliser, Hendon held on to take the points with a 3‐2 win.
