In the Peter Morrison Trophy, the Maccabi Masters team put up a brave fight against a strong Redbridge A team, restricting them to a single goal advantage at the break, but eventually going down 4‐1, with the Masters’ consolation goal coming from Gideon Barnett.
In the Maccabi Masters League, there were mixed fortune for the three Glenthorne teams. In Division 1, Glenthorne A extended their lead at the top of the table as Paul Allen, Steve Faye, Adam Kaye and Lloyd Nygate gave them a 4‐1 win over Scrabble, for whom Ed Zneimer scored.
But in Division 2, both B and C teams went down 2‐1, to Lions and Hendon respectively. Glenthorne B previously had a 100 per cent record, and seemed to be heading for another win as Greg Morris’s goal had them ahead of London Maccabi Lions at the interval, but two second half goals from
Marc Morris earned the points for Lions and blew the title race wide open.
And Glenthorne C went down to the odd goal in three against Hendon Harriers, with David Jacobs and Andy Cohen scoring for Harriers either side of a Nick Pitch strike for ‘Thorne.
EDRS Stonegrove took full advantage of Glenthorne B’s defeat to move to the top of the table as they hammered Brady B 5‐1 with goals from Mark Kingston (2), Tony Platman (pen), Ian Leader and an own goal. Brian Deal scored Brady’s consolation.
