Maccabi Masters League week one review

There were wins for Brady Maccabi, Hendon Harriers and St John's Wood Tigers on the opening weekend of the Maccabi Masters Football League season.

A dramatic late winner from Mark Wagman earned Brady Maccabi a 2-1 victory in the derby against defending champions Maccabi London Lions.

Lawrence Beck’s first half strike gave Brady A the advantage and it looked to have settled the fixture until the final minute, when Lions were awarded a penalty which was duly converted by Bradley Lazarus. Their joy was short-lived, however, when Mark Wagman scored an injury-time winner to give Brady a 2-1 win.

Also in action were Hendon Harriers, who started their campaign with a 2-1 victory over Marshside thanks to goals from Simon Black and Jason Rich, with Sacha Alter providing Marshside’s reply.

And St John’s Wood Tigers signalled their intentions too, with a 6-1 win over Temple Fortune, courtesy of hat-trick from Jonny Feinmesser plus goals from John Perloff, Jason Bentley and Paul Herszaft. James Ryan netted Fortune’s consolation.
