Fulham are targeting Finnish international Roni Porokara.
The winger had been expected to sign for Maccabi Haifa this month.
Born in Helsinki, Porokara, 26, moved to Sweden two years ago where he plays for Orebro in the Swedish top-flight. He has made nine appearances for Finland and scored two goals including a strike in Finland’s 2-1 win against Wales in a World Cup qualifier in October.
The first Jewish player to play for Finland since 1949, Porokara said: “I have not yet had any concrete offers but we have been talking to a number of clubs. I do not yet know if I will be moving this month.”
Maccabi Haifa have confirmed that they are in negotiations with the player. Manager Elisha Levy said: “Porokora would be a very worthwhile addition. If we buy him it will not harm the younger players coming through.”
John Gregory is reportedly considering resigning from Maccabi Ahi Nazareth because the club have so far not released funds to bring in new players.
