MGBSFL DIVISION ONE
NORTH LONDON GALAXY 2 BROOK FARM ROVERS 1
A well-organised Rovers team came away feeling they deserved at least a point in a game which featured a late twist following a brilliant opening goal on the counter from Alon Pinhas.
Heroic defending helped Rovers preserve their lead, with a combination of goalkeeper Ben Pollins and Adam Levene denying Galaxy in quick succession.
However, Zac Rose drew Galaxy level with an excellent header on 84th minutes from a clipped ball into the box. This was followed by a dramatc 94th minute winner from Grundman after a long throw from Bailey Snow. Lewis flicked the ball on at the front post and Grundman slotted home to spark scenes of "pure bedlam" in Barnet.
A delighted Lewis told JC Sport: "It was tough playing against a disciplined BFR today after two weeks off. We made a very sloppy start and found ourselves struggling to get into the game. We conceded just after half-time and then kicked things on.
"I’m so proud of the way we managed to turn the game round and get the three points - we have incredible character and have developed a fear of losing which is getting us through games, even when not performing well."
Lewis went on to say: "We're still unbeaten - we march on! Pressure on Raiders now to keep winning games as we’re going to do everything we can to win this league and won’t rest until we do so."
Rovers' joint-player-manager Dan Cohen told JC Sport: "It was a cruel finish to the game for us but we can be very proud of our performance.
"We set up to frustrate Galaxy, make them make mistakes and not let them play through us, which we did to perfection for pretty much the whole game.
"We scored a brilliant goal on the counter to get ourselves ahead but were simply undone by two scrappy set-pieces late in the game which is very frustrating."
Cohen went on to say: "The boys worked their socks off for 90 minutes and deserved a point but it wasn’t to be.
"We scored a last minute equaliser against Galaxy last time so it’s swings and roundabouts and we look forward to Jewdinese in the cup next week."
