James Gershfield was the hat-trick hero as London Lions extended their excellent winning streak to 14 matches after a solid home victory against struggling Hatfield Social at Rowley Lane.

After a slow start, Lions found the net twice in the first half with a brace from Gershfield, but David Myers in the Lions net was required to keep the visitors at bay.

Half-time saw manager Andy Landesberg let his troops know that their efforts needed to be greater and this saw more fluent display after the interval, with Lions – and Gershfield scoring his at Lions' third to secure the points.

The Lions hit-man now has 23 goals already this season, and will have the club record of 41 goals in a season well within his sights. Indeed, another 18 goals will also see him become only the second player in the club history to net 100 goals for the first team.

Lions manager Andy Landesberg said: "Gersh is scoring goals for fun and deserved his man of the match, but today showed it was a squad game with the likes of Adam Arnold putting in a good performance, and despite a few changes this week we dealt with it well, especially after the break."
