Yuri Foreman, 34, marked his return from a two-year boxing retirement with a comfortable points victory over Lenwood Dozier at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn.
The former WBA world light-middleweight champion was rocked in the first round but took a 77-75 decision on the cards of all three judges over his journeyman opponent.
Foreman´s recent inactivity probably accounted for his slow start but Denwood, from Washington DC, stung him into action when he landed the best punch of the fight in the opening round.
The recently-qualified rabbi responded by building up a useful points advantage against an opponent who only fought in spurts and rarely looked like ending his run of four successive defeats.
The win took Foreman’s career record to 33 wins and two defeats. After the fight Foreman tweeted: "Thank G-d! For another successful night. Thank you for all the love. Much blessings."
