Dowson delivers another performance to be proud of

articlemain

Sophie Dowson, 16, improved her personal best to 3.62m in winning the pole vault at the London Inter-Club Challenge in Hendon.

Rosalind Zeffertt recorded 15.64 and 33.68 for 100m and 200m to improve her UK V50 ranking at both distances.

Zeffertt claimed a comprehensive victory over Olympic athlete Eric Shirley in the latter event. However it must be admitted that, although he is the country’s leading V85 age group athlete, Shirley has slowed somewhat since he partnered gold medallist Chris Brasher in the 1956 Olympic steeplechase final.

Anna Barnett, 16, claimed victory in the discus with a throw of 33.81m at the UK Youth Development League in Hendon.

Rebecca Hurley, 17, took almost two seconds off her 400m hurdles best in placing third in 69.90, while George Grant won the pole vault ‘B’ event with 3.80m.

Eden Davis gained a double victory in the Southern League in Welwyn, taking the 100m in 11.2 and 200m in 23.2.

Highgate Harrier Tal Pelmont, 15, set two new personal bests in winning the 800m (2:11.9) and placing third in the 1,500m (4:39.9) in the Southern Athletics League in Parliament Hill.

Ben Bloom, 11, lowered his 800m best to 2:29.56 at the Watford Open Graded Meeting. Lia Radus recorded 4:56.15 for 1,500m at the British Milers Club in Eltham, missing her PB by just 0.01s.
