It continues and impressive introduction to the league from the new boys after they knocked defending champions Haroldeans off the summit.

The Merseysiders might trail by one point but they are still in the box-seat given they have two games in hand over their title rivals.

But in-form Sedgley have served notice that they intend to battle all the way to be crowned champions.

The latest win, a thumping 7-0 routing of Maccabi Manchester Blue has skipper Saul Shapiro dreaming heading into 2018.

"It's a nice way to end the year in moving to the top in the table," Shapiro said.

"All we can do is keep winning our games and hope the teams around us drop points. We know a big month for us awaits in January."

While other games fell foul to the weather, Sedgley told full advantage by delivering another dominant display.

An even game was turned on its head when Maccabi Manchester Blue star Jordan Kaye was sent off for an alleged headbutt.

Despite the poor pitch conditions, Sedgley came through and didn't look back following Jack Berman's long-range strike before the break.

Berman would net two more and go on to complete his hat-trick with Saul Shapiro (2), Sam Franks and Jeremy Barr also netting in the second-half.

South Manchester Sports 1st will also be in the shake-up alongside Haroldeans but Shapiro believes the underdogs can continue defying the odds.

"We are a looking strong, playing well and our confidence is up," added Shapiro.

"With the way we have adapted, I couldn't have asked for any more."
