A new musical about the life of songwriter Lionel Bart is starting a national tour, telling the story of the man who started out as the youngest son of an East End Jewish family of tailors, the Bergliters.
Most famous for Oliver!, Bart’s career tanked in the 1970s when he was declared bankrupt. West End star John Barr takes the role of Bart in the show, which has been written by Simon Hanning.
The Story of Bart is at the Kenneth More Theatre in Ilford on October 7 and 8, and at the Radlett Centre on October 29.
