The Hampstead home of Sir Harold Delf Gillies, one of the fathers of plastic surgery, is for sale at nearly £20 million. Number 71 Frognal (below) is a 6,000 sq ft, 10-bedroom Victorian house set in terraced gardens and its distinguished previous owner was the pioneering surgeon who helped reconstruct the faces of people wounded in the First World War.
Gillies developed "flap surgery" and went on to undertake the first gender-reassignment operations in the UK.
Dating from the early 1800s, the house also includes five reception rooms, including a tower room, gym space, a swimming pool and staff accommodation. Beauchamp Estates is asking £18.95 million.
