What was it they said about Jews and football? As if Anthony Clavane’s recent book, Does Your Rabbi Know You’re Here?, was not enough to destroy the myth that Jews do nothing more than follow football, now we have our own home-grown Premier League striker. Nick Blackman — a former pupil at King David High School in Manchester and JLGB member — became the first Jewish player to start a Premier League game last week. Mazeltov to him and his parents! (We will ignore the fact that Reading lost and that the game took place on a Saturday.)
