Fully Atoned

December 20, 2007 00:00

Oliver Kamm writes about the most over- and under-rated cultural events of 2007.

I've no doubt about the most-overrated event: Atonement. As I wrote at the time of its release:It has to be one of the worst films I have ever seen, given that it takes itself so seriously and so comprehensively fails to achieve any of its intentions.

I have no idea what happened to the characters after we left, and I really couldn't care less - which is, of course, why we left. The whole thing was utterly uninvolving, so we uninvolved ourselves from it.
