If you’ve ever wondered what Yotam Ottolenghi chooses when he needs a bowl of something comforting, you’ll be able to ask him in person later this year when he starts a four-month book tour to promote his latest book, Ottolenghi Comfort.
The book, which is due to be published in September 2024 has been co-authored with three other members of his team — Helen Goh, Verena Lochmuller and Tara Wigley. The blurb describes it as a round-up of the personal favourites of four ‘hungries’, filled with flavours from their memories, childhoods, and travels.
Comfort food, Ottolenghi-style is never going to be beans on toast nor a tin of Heinz tomato soup. When craving pasta the Israeli celebrity chef and his team are going for caramelised onion orecchiette with hazelnuts and crispy sage. And if they fancy a warming bowl of soup, it’ll be cheesy bread soup with Savoy cabbage and cavolo nero. When only mashed potatoes will do, they’ll be whipping up a plate of garlicky aligot potato with leeks and thyme.
Sadly for him, we doubt the celebrity chef, will be doing much of his own home cooking while he’s sharing his secrets on stage, as he’ll be appearing in more than 20 cities across England, the US and Europe between September and December.
