The Jewish Chronicle is seeking a dynamic and well-connected Opinion Editor to shape and drive our opinion section. This is a rare opportunity to influence debate and bring in high-profile voices across the spectrum of the Jewish community and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curate and manage the comment section, ensuring diverse perspectives and engaging analysis.
- Commission and edit pieces from leading figures, journalists, and commentators, securing contributions from well-known names.
- Develop and maintain a strong roster of writers, identifying fresh voices and thought leaders.
- Oversee a comment rota, ensuring a balanced mix of viewpoints and timely responses to major issues.
- Work closely with senior editors to align the comment section with the publication’s editorial direction.
About You:
- Proven experience in opinion journalism, commissioning, and editing at a high level.
- A strong network of contacts in media, politics, and the Jewish community.
- A sharp editorial eye and excellent writing and editing skills.
- Ability to balance and showcase a range of viewpoints while maintaining the publication’s standards.
- Highly organised, able to manage multiple deadlines and a fast-moving news cycle.
