Sacks Morasha Jewish Primary in Finchley could be on its way to becoming an outstanding school, Ofsted said in a report published today.

After a short routine visit, the Ofsted recommended the state-aided Orthodox primary undergo a fuller inspection next time to see if it had made the leap from a good to an outstanding school.

Inspector Martin Beale said he was “of the opinion that the school has demonstrated strong practice and marked improvement in certain areas. This may indicate that the school is improving towards being outstanding.”

Headteacher Hayley Gross came in for praise for her relentless focus on “improving  outcomes for pupils, both academically and personally”.

Pupils were “highly aspirational” about what they could achieve, Mr Beale wrote, while Mrs Gross had begun to train teachers as “future leaders”.

Improvements in reading and writing were particularly noted. Pupil’s writing had “become more adventurous in its structure and pupils use inventive vocabulary”.

Sacks Morasha is due later this year to become one of the first three primary schools under the umbrella of the new Jewish Community Academy Trust which is being set up by the United Synagogue.
