Brussels is due to host a weekend of activities for more than 1,000 Jewish students from across Europe.

The European Centre for Jewish Students’ annual Party Like A Jew event begins on Friday in the Belgian capital.

Activities will include a day-trip to the city of Namur, a Shabbat dinner, and a ball.

ECJS’ next major event is a weekend in Barcelona, Spain, to mark New Year’s Eve. The five-day celebration is expected to attract around 700 students from across the world, and will feature lectures, cultural tours and a New Year party.

The organisation’s sister group, Jewish European Professionals, welcomed more than 100 people to Dubrovnik, Croatia, last month.

The event created a logistical challenge, as the organisation needed to ship a pallet of frozen kosher meat to the non-EU country in order to cater for the young professionals.

Despite arranging for food to be sent from Lithuania, via Berlin, paperwork held up the delivery and reinforcements had to be sent from the organisation’s headquarters in Belgium.

But the revellers enjoyed sessions on relationships, business and life coaching, as well as tours of the local area.
