A Jewish school for children with educational needs has announced that four of its pupils have received prestigious awards recognising the achievements of young people.

The students, all of whom attend the Kisharon Noé School in Hendon, have each been presented with a Jack Petchey award to celebrate their “remarkable accomplishments”, said the school.

Pupils Charlie, Joe, Sophia and Ibri were given their awards by the Mayor of Barnet, Councillor Tony Vourou, at a  ceremony at the Arts Depot in Finchley, north London.

Eitan Cohn, head of Kodesh (Jewish studies), said: "This is the first year we have entered for the awards, and we are delighted. We are very proud of our pupils who achieve so much and so pleased that their efforts and achievements have been recognised by others as well.

“We are grateful to the late Sir Jack Petchey and his foundation and, as always, to our dedicated and talented staff at the school, who help our pupils to thrive".

Officially known as The Wohl Campus, Kisharon Noé School, A Loftus Family Learning Centre, the school said that the awards were an acknowledgement of the individual students’ achievements. Charlie was recognised for resilience, openness, and adaptability; Joe for his kindness and hard work; Sophia for positivity and strength and Ibri for focus and friendliness.

Each award comes with a grant for the pupil and their peers to help them further develop their learning. The grants have been used to purchase additional equipment for the school including sensory toys and puzzles, beanbags, outdoor equipment, calming lights, tents and emotion cards.

A spokesperson for Kisharon Noé School said it remained “dedicated to supporting and celebrating the growth and success of its students” and that the awards were presented again at the summer graduation assembly for the school community “to further recognise these fantastic successes”.

The Jack Petchey Foundation, established by the late Sir Jack Petchey CBE, aims to inspire and motivate young people across London and Essex.
