The Royal Parks Half Marathon took place this weekend, successfully raising £5,575 for two charities dedicated to supporting individuals with learning disabilities and autistic people within the Jewish community.

Among the participants was 22-year-old Noa Taylor, who completed the half marathon for Norwood in two hours,13 minutes, and 23 seconds, raising £1,400 for the charity that has provided lifelong support to her cousin, Leah.

“This was not only a personal challenge, as I had never run close to this distance before, but it was also meaningful for my family,” Noa explained. “Norwood has been there for Leah and her family, providing respite and care. I want to help ensure they can continue this vital work.”

Noa highlighted the comprehensive support Norwood offers, including around-the-clock care and respite services, emphasising the tangible difference the charity makes in her family’s life. “It’s great to see the impact they have; it’s something that can help in the future,” she said.

Reflecting on her training experience, Noa noted: “I really enjoyed the training; I followed a plan that worked for me. I’m grateful for the support from friends and family, and I exceeded my fundraising target.”

The day of the marathon was a celebration, with Noa’s friends and family cheering her on. “It was such an amazing experience to see London in a different way. Crossing the finish line was a great achievement,” she added. While she is open to future challenges, she joked: “I’m not sure about a full marathon just yet!”

Another participant, 23-year-old Jonah, was inspired to run for Norwood as well, finishing the race in one hour, 51 minutes, and 16 seconds. Meanwhile, 62-year-old David Lederman completed the half marathon in an impressive one hour, 41 minutes, and seven seconds.

A team of nine dedicated runners represented Kisharon Langdon, showcasing their commitment to the organisation’s mission. The team included Melanie Angel, Yiddy Gardner, Doron Jacobs, James Jacobs, Tamar Nathan, Alex Pollak, Joshua Rosen, Eleri Russell, and Sam Ucko.

They navigated the picturesque half marathon route, with Alex Pollak emerging as the fastest of the group, finishing in one hour, 37 minutes, and 32 seconds.

As they crossed the finish line, the Kisharon Langdon team was surrounded by a vibrant support crew, celebrating their hard work and dedication. “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported our runners through donations, encouragement, and cheering along the course,” said Adam Overlander-Kaye, director of fundraising. “Every contribution makes a significant impact on the lives of those we support.”

Runner Melanie Angel expressed her enthusiasm for the cause, stating: “Kisharon Langdon does so much for individuals with learning disabilities and autism and their families. It’s good to have this opportunity to support such an amazing organisation.”
