Jewish Blind & Disabled has appointed Lisa Wimborne as its new chief executive, succeeding Hazel Kaye, who is leaving the charity after 16 years to take up a senior role at Norwood.

Currently head of PR and external affairs at Jewish Care, where she has been involved in flagship projects, Ms Wimborne will join JBD in July.

Prior to joining Jewish Care, she worked as a senior manager for a number of large housing associations. She was also a founding JCoSS governor.

JBD chair John Joseph said she brought “valuable experience to the role”.

Ms Wimborne looked forward to working with the JBD staff and lay leadership “to ensure we can continue meeting the ever-developing needs of people in the Jewish community who have physical disabilities or impaired vision”.

JBD administers around 300 mobility apartments in seven developments in the London area. It will shortly open a new wing at Cecil Rosen Court in Bushey, adding 19 apartments to its portfolio.
