Shopping for Pesach can be something of a challenge, especially when you leave the kosher bounty of Golders Green and head for the English outback. But any matzah-related worries at Bournemouth have been eased thanks to the supermarket super-folk at Boscombe Sainsbury’s. The university’s local branch delivered a bespoke hamper of their kosher for Passover products to JSoc last week, after learning that most students were unable to go home for the holiday. A spokesperson for Sainsbury’s explained: “We’re trying to connect with the Jewish community and raise awareness for Passover.” Trolly good, eh?

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION

What do Charlie Chaplin, the Cookie Monster and Big Bang Theory’s Leonard Hofstadter have in common? They all feature in a movie made by Liverpool students based on the life of Chabad rabbi Shmuli Brown. According to the film's creator, Josh Plotnek, students in their final year chose the art of filmic expression to thank their shaliach for all his support on campus, presenting the end product to more than 30 guests at Liverpool’s “Purim in Hollywood” event last weekend. The title of this blockbuster? Breaking Chabad.
