The retired pharmacist worked in retail and hospital pharmacy before going on to run her own community pharmacy for nearly 20 years and gain experience working with nursing homes

● Why the Morris Feinmann Home?

A member of the trustees recruited me onto the home's board because he knew of my experience in community pharmacy and other congregational activities.

● Have you volunteered elsewhere in the past?

I have been an active member of Cheshire Reform Congregation's Menorah Synagogue for over 30 years and was chairman for three years. In 2004 I launched a campaign to raise money to replace our crumbling prefabricated building on the existing site. Within three years we had funds pledged, architect's plans drawn up, and put into action interim arrangements.

● What does your volunteering involve?

I was appointed a trustee of the Morris Feinmann Home in 2000 and served as chairman of the board of trustees for six years. I've tried to introduce prudent management, and organised many fundraising activities.

● What do you most enjoy about being a volunteer?

Recruiting the right people onto a team and working together with them to secure the future of residential care for older people in south Manchester.

● What are your most memorable volunteering moments?

The dedication of the new Besso lounge for the residents. Funds were donated by a local family in memory of a relative who perished in Auschwitz, and I worked with a team for one year to create a modern front lounge. At Menorah it was the dedication ceremony of our new synagogue.
