Former Union of Jewish Students president Joe Tarsh has been elected as chairperson of the World Union of Jewish Students.

Mr Tarsh was elected chairperson at the WUJS General Assembly in Israel on Tuesday. He will serve for two years as leader of the organisation which brings together 48 national Jewish student unions from around the world.

The young activist was UJS president in 2013 and previously served WUJS as the projects director.
