There’s a sense of belonging here” says Sheila Golding, a resident at Jewish Care’s Rosetrees care home.
At Rosetrees, every resident experiences more than just a place to live; they are welcomed into the Jewish Care family, a community that shares values, traditions and cultural connections. Rosetrees offers a friendly, lively environment that feels like home, where residents can live in comfort while staying connected to their Jewish traditions.
Every aspect of life at Rosetrees honours and preserves Jewish values. From celebrating Jewish holidays together to enjoying delicious kosher meals, the team ensures residents feel close to their roots.
Staff work hard to deliver quality care and support and develop lasting friendships with residents.
Friendships with other residents are found and nurtured, such as that of Carole Pearl and Sheila Golding.
Sheila finds comfort in being in an environment where traditions like the weekly candle lighting for Shabbat bring a “touch of home”. Carole explains: “For me, one of the most meaningful aspects of life at Rosetrees has been the opportunity to attend synagogue.
“I go to synagogue every Shabbat morning now. I find it very relaxing, and it’s great to be with so many people.”
As part of the larger care campus at The Betty and Asher Loftus Centre in Friern Barnet, which includes Kun Mor and George Kiss care home, as well as Stella & Harry Freedman House care home, the care community has access to amenities like the café, shop and landscaped gardens.
The friendly and professional care team at Rosetrees is dedicated to meeting residents’ needs with high-quality care 24 hours a day through specialist residential, dementia and respite care for older people. They create a warm, welcoming atmosphere, taking the time to get to know each resident, providing personalised care and helping them to feel at home and settled in.
Residents are encouraged to remain active, with access to a wide variety of on-site activities organised by Jewish Care’s Living Well team. This includes classical music concerts, exercise sessions and meditation, as well as visits from nursery children, involvement in the services at the Wohl Synagogue and visits from family and friends.
Beyond the Jewish values that are an integral part of life at Rosetrees, the care provided is second to none. “All the carers are very sweet. It really is amazing,” says Carole. Sheila agrees: “The carers here genuinely care.”
At Rosetrees, it is essential residents feel in control of their own lives, so they are empowered to maintain their independence while receiving the support they need. Sheila says: “I want to do my own thing, in my own space and Jewish Care allows me to do just that. I have my own independence as well as being cared for.”
Across Jewish Care homes, residents are encouraged to bring items from home to make their personal spaces feel familiar and homely. “I’ve filled my room with my own lovely photos and artwork,” says Carole, and Sheila says: “I’ve decorated my room with personality and I have been able to bring my own memories with me.”
Carole, who has lived with Parkinson’s for several years, and her husband, Ronnie, previously cared for by Carole, now both benefit from the compassionate support at Rosetrees.
After Ronnie’s own diagnosis with dementia, Eleanor, their daughter, and her brothers, took on the responsibility of caring for them both. Eleanor says: “It has given me real peace of mind knowing that my parents are safe and well cared for and are together in the same care home.
“It really has lifted a huge weight off my shoulders and changed my life. My whole being was stressed before and it’s just that relief of knowing they’re looked after.
“I’ve had the chance to celebrate Pesach with them, joining their Seder nights. Last year, my husband led the service for the second floor and the whole experience was wonderful.
“It was a lot to manage before, but having my parents at Rosetrees means I can finally take a step back, knowing they’re getting the care they need.”
Jewish Care’s director of care services, Rita Rousso, says: “Rosetrees is a beautiful and warm place to live, or to enjoy a respite stay.
“The unique Jewish care we provide means people feel a sense of comfort and connection in a culturally familiar environment. Whether you are living independently and looking for some care and support, or you would like to join a vibrant community, our staff will ensure you feel valued and supported to live a full and meaningful life.”
