The Jewish Golf Initiative (JGI), a project of Maccabi GB and dedicated volunteers, is determined to make golf more accessible and grow the game across our community. The JGI works with a number of exciting partners in the world of golf, and we are thrilled to present two exceptional opportunities that aim to ignite enthusiasm and participation in golf: the inaugural junior scholarship scheme and our collaboration with Love.Golf.

Our junior scholarship scheme welcomes applicants, regardless of their current level of experience, whether they have only visited a driving range, played a round of crazy golf, or simply watched the sport with keen interest. The primary criterion for selection is a genuine drive to significantly enhance their golf skills over the course of the year.

Our inaugural programme includes an annual junior membership to the esteemed Dyrham Park Country Club, generously provided by DPCC. As a bonus, the recipient will also receive tickets to attend the final day of the 151st Open, courtesy of The R&A. Furthermore, the scheme grants access to the esteemed James Noakes Junior Academy, which features weekly coaching sessions led by the highly regarded James Noakes, a skilled PGA Professional.

In addition, participants will have the invaluable opportunity to engage in the Leadership by Streetwise programme, nurturing their leadership abilities both on and off the golf course. As a potential highlight of the scholarship, selected individuals may also be chosen to represent their country at the prestigious European Maccabi Youth Games in 2024, and other International Maccabi Games.

Love.Golf is an initiative focused on growing female participation in the game. It provides women with the chance to try our amazing game in an entertaining, relaxed and safe environment. The JGI is delighted to work with Love.Golf, and in particular our head coach, James Noakes, in delivering initial sessions this summer. The sessions are tailored for complete beginners, offering a fantastic opportunity to try the game in a supportive and enjoyable setting. Check out Love.Golf’s Instagram and website for more insight into how the sessions operate; they take place in Leeds at Moor Allerton Golf Club, led by George Carroll, and Dyrham Park Country Club, led by James Noakes.

To learn more about these and many other opportunities facilitated by the Jewish Golf Initiative, for individuals of all ages and skill levels, we encourage you to contact us at golf@maccabigb.org. The JGI looks forward to welcoming you and helping you explore the countless joys and benefits of golf within our community.
