Nottingham JSOC side Seely 17 claimed the Juefa Cup and a free trip to Israel after emerging triumphant from the 36-team tournament.

The Midlands team defeated Masa UK in the final with captain Jonny Shapiro scoring the only goal of the game.

Roie Spitzer, Marc Harris, Sam Johnstone, Daniel Perkins, Jonny Lawrence and Simon Lawrence all featured for Seely 17 along with skipper Shapiro.

In the Girls section, Sandy Tapnack’s double fired Jewventus to a 2-0 final victory over Birmingham University side, Seven Girls One Cup.

Katie Meltzer, Alexia Smith, Emma Sonenfeld, and captain Rebecca Landy will now join Tapnack to a European holiday destination of their choice after seeing off five other female teams.

Over 300 players took part in the UJS competition, organised by Masa and sponsored by Maccabi GB.

And Matt Keston, who oversaw the tournament, was full of praise following the conclusion of the fourth edition of the competition.

He said: “I couldn’t be more pleased with how everything has gone. The UJS Juefa Cup tournament has grown continually over the years, but to see over 300 students past and present, at this sold out event was a great achievement.

“I was personally proud of my very own Masa UK team for making the final and would like to thank Maccabi GB for sponsoring what has been a truly successful day.”
