Police are investigating allegations of antisemitic activity at York University following a complaint from the father of a Jewish student.
A spokesperson from North Yorkshire Police confirmed that they had received the complaint and had contacted the student whose father had made the allegations.
The spokesperson said officers were due to meet university officials.
“They are treating it as a potential hate crime,” said the spokesperson.
Police confirmed that one of the allegations concerned the performance of a play.
York Jewish society members held meetings with university officials and the student union this week to discuss their claims of antisemitic activity on campus.
During Israel Apartheid Week last month York students Palestinian Solidarity Society put on performances of the Caryl Churhill play Seven Jewish Children, which has been widely described as antisemitic.
