Straight out of the Society of Silly ideas comes Z-man. Scientists are working on gloves and shoes that will allow a human to scale walls like a gecko does. They base their technology on the fine hairs on a gecko's feet. Haven't they noticed that a gecko has four feet, is a mere few inches long and probably weighs less than 1lb?
Our resident legal eagle, Edward Lishak, (www.frederickrinesolicitors.com) explained in detail about the pre-nup contract that couples intending to marry should agree and sign before the wedding. That should do away the traditional fleecing of men (or women from time to time). Ivana Trump and Heather Mills come to mind. We had a Where Are You Now? moment when Fleuris Luder came by to appeal to listeners to help her find the volunteers of Ashkelon. This program was set up in 1980 to help Ashkelon develop and through the years there have been thousands who helped out in one way or another. The highlight of the show was chatting to Alan Rubenstein, Managing Director of The Jewish Chronicle. He gave a potted history of 170 years of publishing the paper, described how it used to be and his upbeat vision for the future. "The distribution grows year on year and in the current climate that is excellent news".
Alan knows that it's a team effort and rhapsodised about the current editor Stephen Pollard, and his ability to attract top notch writers.
We also found out that when he is out of the office on a thursday morning, contrary to popular belief he is not actually on the golf course, he is applying the law of the land in his capacity as a magistrate! Well that certainly was news.
