It's interesting to hear the comments this week of a man who we rarely hear from these days. I'm speaking of course about Avram Grant, who revealed to the JC that his next management move would be one that "surprised" us.
Well Mr Grant, I have been looking around at the various managerial vacancies and think to myself, there is no reason you shouldn't grace us with your presence in the dug-out once again.
I really enjoyed the way Grant dealt with the media, always very blunt and to the point. He was honest, and came across very amusing in some of his interviews. So who wouldn't want a man who came so close to leading Chelsea to glory in the Champions League and the Premier League title?
Let's look at potential job opportunities for the Israeli. First up Portsmouth, a club who recently hired Tony Adams after Harry Redknapp made his shock move to Spurs.
Personally, I don't see Adams lasting. He is far too inexperienced in management and proved that at Wycombe. His start at Fratton Park has been far from impressive with no wins in three. With that in mind, come January Alexandre Gaydamak could well give a call to his ‘good friend' Grant to help produce a Pompey revival. But Grant told the JC that "Portsmouth are not for him".
Another job that could suit Grant is Watford. A London club who are conveniently located reasonably close to his home in St John's Wood. They might be in the Championship but have one of the best youth academies and I feel have great potential with the right leadership to improve and one day return to the Premier League.
But the choice is yours Avram. You've told us to be patient but I am intrigued to find out what is next. So please enlighten us.
