Last week we reported the deplorable condition of a supported living flat rented from Norwood by a young autistic woman.
A spokesman for the charity offered no explanation beyond the sort of bland stonewalling which so often makes bad situations worse. So it is all the more creditworthy that Norwood's chief executive today, in the letters column on this page, admits the organisation's mistake, offers a full apology and takes complete responsibility. How refreshing - and how unlike many other organisations which refuse to admit they can be fallible. But Mrs Brier, who is about to retire, has always been a class act - and will be a tough one to follow.
