Reacting to words

A curious phenomenon of politics is how words from some politicians that create a storm are virtually ignored when they come from others. So while - quite rightly - Baroness Tonge's various idiocies led to her having the LibDem whip removed, Jeremy Corbyn regularly comes out with equally vile comments and gets away scot free. Last week, the Labour MP demanded a public inquiry into the influence of "pro-Israel lobbying groups", singling out Bicom chairman Poju Zabludowicz. Labour eventually issued a bland statement - but only after being pushed by the JC. Ed Miliband, who was at the front of the queue demanding that Nick Clegg punish Baroness Tonge, has uttered not a word of criticism, let alone taken any action. Double standards or plain hypocrisy?
