No longer serious

Amnesty International has a proud and important history. Its aims are laudable. Yet in recent years it has moved well away from its traditions of strict impartiality and adopted a pronounced anti-Israel stance.
Now it has agreed to host what is, in effect, a Hamas rally in London. Amnesty claims that it is simply renting out a room. Fine: but it is free to reject such requests. It is unimaginable that it would rent a room to the BNP. Yet it chooses to do so for MEMO, a Hamas propaganda vehicle. That Amnesty seeks to defend its decision compounds its culpability. As things stand, Amnesty can no longer be taken seriously by anyone concerned with genuine human rights.
