I think I should have used another headline on my post below, after reading Andy McSmith's comment on my post:
Stephen,
To answer your questions, Open House is what they call post-moderated. That is to say, anybody can post anything, but if it is offensive, it will be taken down as soon as it is spotted. Some replies to my blog have been removed. To answer your other question, no, we are not "happy" to have the ones you cite up on the website, but that is beside the point; I don't think those posts are so offensive that they should be censored. That obviously is a matter of judgement.
on the question of judgement, don't you think your headline, comparing the Independent Blog to a particualrly disgusting racist magazine, every issue of which would be illegal under current British law, is OTT?
But it was kind of you to call me 'estimable'.
He's right: the headline is OTT. I wrote it in haste. Not a valid excuse, but there we go.
I ought, on reflection, to have compared it with a BNP site.
