We have seen autumn transform our gardens from spring's pink palette into auburn swatch boards - now we can do the same for our party décor. Sandra Conway of Wicked Flowers suggests hues of red, orange, yellow and purple for bold and beautiful arrangements, offset with golden foliage. For a wedding, consider leafy branches with orange and yellow berries, to be placed delicately around a chupah. For party decorations use in-season flowers and plants such as hydrangeas, roses, chrysanthemums, antherium, gladioli, ivy and varieties of willow - all can be found in autumnal tones and colours. Traditional wedding whites and greens always look stylish - displayed in the middle of candelabras or placed on top of mirrors.

No need to overspend, as a simple flower design can work just as well as a lavish display. If you are on a smaller budget, pick one type of flower and place single stems in small rectangular containers or in bottles, around the room. This gives a simple, pretty touch of colour to your dinner or buffet tables. Orchids in low-key containers will give the same effect of dotted colour and floral-scented air. And lastly, for a bit of fun, at the end of the evening, why not place raffle tickets on guests plates - whoever wins, gets to take the flowers home! This way your flowers will live on and someone else will have the pleasure of keeping them with the memory of your fantastic party.
