The leader of one of the largest Zionist youth movements is calling for a youth representative to be given a seat at the Jewish Leadership Council.
Jack Prevezer, 22, mazkir of the Federation of Zionist Youth, made the call during a recent panel discussion by youth leaders at the Limmud conference.
“In the same way that the Union of Jewish Students, rightly, gets a seat at the council,” he said this week, “youth movements should get a voice — particularly considering we represent a constituency of at least 5,000. We have our own council, the Zionist Youth Council, so there is no reason why there should not be a representative of the ZYC on the JLC.
“The JLC is missing out on the voice of the under-18s.
“The only mainstream area of Anglo-Jewry that is not represented at the JLC, is the youth movements.”
The JLC has recently reserved two seats for members of its new leadership network, a group of 30-40-year-olds who are being groomed as the future leaders of organisations which will run the community.
