After 450 days of captivity following the Hamas-led attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023, 33 hostages are set to be released from Gaza.
A deal, reached earlier this week, will see more than two dozen hostages, largely children, women, and the elderly released in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.
These are the hostages who are reportedly on the list to be released in the first phase of the new ceasefire agreement, it is not known exactly how many are still alive.
Emily Damari (28), the only British citizen still held hostage, was abducted from her home in southern Israel. Her mother, Mandy, was spared capture when a terrorist’s bullet jammed the lock of the room where she was hiding. Emily suffered gunshot wounds in the attack, which were though to be potentially fatal.

Kfir (1) and Ariel Bibas (5), the youngest of the hostages, were taken with their parents, Shiri (33) and Yarden (36), from Kibbutz Nir Oz. Kfir was just nine months old at the time
Oded Liftshitz (84), a founding member of Kibbutz Nir Oz, was taken by Hamas during the attack that killed 46 others at the kibbutz. A former paratrooper and journalist, Oded and his wife Yocheved had been peace activists for years, working to provide medical care to Palestinians. Their daughter Sharone, based in the UK, called on the British government to do more to secure their release.
Eliyahu Sharabi (52) was taken from his home in Kibbutz Be’eri, where his wife Lianne, originally from Bristol, and their two teenage daughters, Noiya and Yahel, were murdered. His brother Yossi was also abducted but has since been found dead, though his remains are believed to still be in Gaza.
Keith Shmuel Siegel (65), an American-Israeli from North Carolina, was abducted alongside his wife Aviva, who was released the following month. Keith has been held in Gaza since, with a proof-of-life video released by Hamas in April 2024.
Tsachi Idan (50) was taken from his home in Kibbutz Nahal Oz during the attack, which saw his daughter Ma’ayan tragically killed. Tsachi’s wife Gali last received information about him in November 2023, when released hostages reported seeing him alive.
Romi Gonen (24) was abducted while trying to flee from the Supernova festival. Her mother, Merav, has been an active advocate for her release, appealing to the UN for help.
Arbel Yehoud (29) was taken alongside her partner Ariel Cunio (27) from Nir Oz – who is yet to be released from Gaza. Ariel’s brother Eitan, who escaped, later told the JC that Ariel’s last message was: "We are in a horror movie."
Doron Steinbrecher (31), a veterinary nurse, was in her apartment in Kibbutz Kfar Aza when the attack occurred. At 10:30 AM on October 7, she sent a voice message to friends saying, “They’ve arrived, they have me.”
Liri Albag (19) had just begun her military training as a lookout at the Nahal Oz base when the attack took place. Her family has received messages from her through other released hostages.
Karina Ariev (20), a soldier at the Nahal Oz base, was abducted during the attack, with her sister Alexandra hearing gunfire during the call with Karina. A video released by Hamas later showed Karina being taken away in a vehicle.
Agam Berger (20) was taken from the same base, Nahal Oz. She was seen in a video released by Hamas during her abduction.
Daniel Gilboa (20), another soldier based at Kibbutz Nahal Oz, appeared in a video released in July 2024, where she appealed for the Israeli government to secure the release of all hostages.
Naama Levy (20) was seen in a video, her hands tied behind her back as she was bundled into a jeep. Naama had only just begun her military service when she was captured.
Ohad Ben-Ami (55) was abducted from Be’eri, along with his wife Raz, who was later released by Hamas.
Gad Moshe Moses (80), an agricultural expert, was taken from Nir Oz during the attack. His partner, Efrat Katz, was killed, and his family has not received any information about him since December 2023, when he appeared in a Hamas propaganda video.
Offe Kalderon (53) was taken from Nir Oz with his children, Erez and Sahar. In November 2023, Erez and Sahar were released, but Offe remains in captivity.
Itzhak Elgaret (69), also taken from Nir Oz, was reportedly shot in the hand during the attack. His phone was traced to Gaza after the assault.
Shlomo Mansour (86), born in Iraq, was taken from Kibbutz Kissufim, where he worked as a chicken coop manager. His wife Mazal managed to escape.

Ohad Yahalomi (50) was abducted from Nir Oz alongside his 12-year-old son, Eitan, who was released in November 2023.
Hisham al-Sayed (36), a Bedouin Arab Israeli, has been held by Hamas since 2015. He remains one of the longest-held hostages by the group.
Sagui Dekel Chen (36), an American-Israeli, was abducted from Nir Oz. His wife, Avital, later gave birth to their third child, a daughter named Shahar, during his captivity.
Iair Horn (46), an Argentinian citizen, was in Nir Oz at the time of the attack. Iair worked as a construction worker and was taken by Hamas during the assault.
Omer Wenkert (23), a restaurant manager, was in contact with his family until he lost communication. His family later saw a Hamas video showing Omer handcuffed and wearing only underwear.

Alexandre Troufanov (28) was abducted from Kibbutz Nir Oz alongside his mother, Lena, his partner Sapir Cohen, and his grandmother Irina Tati. Sapir, Lena, and Irina were released in November 2023.
Eliya Cohen (27) and his girlfriend hid from the attackers but were discovered, and Eliya was later shown in a video taken by Hamas.
Or Levy (34) fled the festival with his wife Eynav and phoned his mother to say they were hiding in a bomb shelter. Israeli forces later informed the family that Eynav had been found dead in the shelter, and Or had been kidnapped.
Avera Mengistu (38), an Ethiopian-born Israeli, crossed into Gaza in 2014 and has been held by Hamas ever since. He remains one of the longest-held hostages in the region.
Tal Shoham (39) was taken from Kibbutz Be’eri. His wife Adi, their two young children, and his mother-in-law Dr. Shosham Haran were released in November 2023. Sadly, Dr. Haran’s husband, Avshalom, was killed during the attack.
Omer Shem Tov (21) managed to escape briefly but was captured when he tried to rescue his friends, Maya and Itai Regev. Both siblings were released in November 2023, but they reported having been with Omer during his captivity.
