Uefa has called off tomorrow night’s Europa League match between Hapoel Kiryat Shmona and Athletic Bilbao after this morning’s bus bomb attack in Tel Aviv.

The decision came amid growing pressure from the Spanish club who were preparing to fly to Israel.

A decision concerning the rescheduling of the match will be made by the end of the week.

There were also reports today that Uefa would consider asking England to be on stand-by to host next summer’s under-21 European Championships, if the trouble escalates.

Meanwhile, the European Olympic Committee have moved next month’s general assembly and executive committee meeting from Israel to Italy due to the unrest.

The Olympic Committee of Israel had been planning for three years, but the decision to relocate in Rome was taken after a number of national Olympic committees refused to travel to Eilat on security grounds.
