Donald Trump has marked Rosh Hashanah by accusing American Jews who backed Joe Biden in the last presidential election of “voting to destroy America and Israel”.
In a message on his social media website Truth Social, the former US president shared a flyer from JEXIT (Jews Exiting the Democrat Party), an anti-Democrat lobbying group formed in 2018.
The title of the flyer reads: “Just a quick reminder for liberal Jews who voted to destroy America and Israel because you believed in false narratives!”
It goes on to say: “Let’s hope you learned from your mistake and make better choices moving forward!. Happy New Year!
“Wake Up Sheep. What Nazi / Antisemite ever did this for the Jewish people or Israel?”
The flyer then goes to list Trump’s Israel-related accomplishments during his tenure at the White House between 2017 and 2021.
These included the relocation of the US embassy to Jerusalem and the former president's recognition of Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights.
Other actions included signing the “Never Again” Education Bill, which allocated millions of dollars for Holocaust awareness and signing an executive order for Judaism to be a nationality in addition to a religion so as to fall under the protections of Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

According to JEXIT’s webpage, the organisation aims “to help educate and encourage Jews to understand that the Democrat party has abandoned them and Israel” and believes “much of the core of today’s Democrat party is anti-Israel, antisemitic and anti-American.”
It comes after the former US president shared a post from far-right pundit and conspiracy theorist Wayne Allyn Root, who wrote the former president “did more for the state of Israel and the Jewish people than anyone in history.”
At the time in December 2022, Trump was under pressure to condemn Nick Fuentes and Kanye West, who has come under fire for antisemitic posts on Twitter/X, after hosting the pair at his Mar-a-Lago resort.
Root defended Trump over the dinner party in the post. Trump wrote in response: “Thank you Wayne – You are great but how quickly Jewish leaders forgot that I was the best, by far, president for Israel.
“They should be ashamed of themselves. This lack of loyalty to their greatest friends and allies is why large numbers in Congress, and so many others, have stopped giving support to Israel.”
A poll on the 2020 US presidential election showed that 77 per cent of Jewish voters chose Biden over Trump and a Jewish Electoral Institute survey from June of this year found that 72 per cent of Jewish voters favour Biden for the 2024 race versus 22 per cent supporting Trump.
However, nationally Trump leads Biden by one percentage point (50-49), according to a CBS News poll published on Sunday.
