A gunman who took up to five people hostage in a Paris post office today, has handed himself over to police.
He was armed with a Kalashnikov rifle and numerous grenades. No one was injured in the incident.
Sources told the Liberation newspaper he was reacting to a "heartbreak - disappointed in love".
The post office is said to be in Colombe, in north-western Paris.
According to reports, police have claimed that the man is known to authorities. The incident is not believed to be a terrorist attack.
This comes after four Jews were killed in a Parisian kosher supermarket siege last Friday.
